June 1 , 2013 roughly around 6:30 pm I was seeking parking
with the homie Sheena (yooooo) on Broadway in Manhattan of all places. Haha… Yeah that
was pretty funny right? However, we managed to find one and leave without any tickets. Score!
Much anticipated, we were Sumptuous Locks
Natural Hair Turn Up: A Red Carpet Affair bound which was located at Lali Lali Salon 650
Broadway, 3rd Fl New York, NY 10012 hosted by none other than the 1st
Lady of Sumptuous Locks (Adore the name), Wariesi Flores. Wariesi does an amaze & ing job at Sisterlocks! (Do
check the portfolio!) http://www.sumlocks.com/#!photo-gallery
I must say, that you never would have known that it was a
Salon based off of this event, sounds like a job well done to me.
Escorted into an elevator with about 7 other attendees we
had no idea what to expect. There were a bunch of side eyes all around until we
heard a sudden loud thunder of excitement and some pretty live music. Say what
about huh? I need a double shot of what they’re having on the rocks… Clearly a
funky good time!
Upon departing the elevator, your eyes meet smiles of
welcome escorting you to the red carpet where a photographer gives a quick,
click, flash session and you in return turn the pearly white switch to “Watch
Me Work!”.
Mingling, over thirst mixings and finger licking fixings
kept the crowd with all smiles. In addition to those bangaz on the 1’s and 2’s,
the DJ certainly kept the feet shifting.
There were also some dope MUA’s on deck and amazing natural
hair stylists there doing great justice to the curls and coils at hand, and a
live portrait being painted on the spot (I must admit, I found myself checking
up on the masterpiece every now and then).
Also in attendance were The great Dr. Joanne Cornwell also
known as The Founder of Sisterlocks, Founder of Kinky Curly Coily Me Jenell Stewart,
Natural Hair Advocate BeauTIFFul Curls, and Vloggers Brittania718, and my
fellow Bajan-ista Ahsiek1118 aka Keisha G.
So the question at hand after every Natural Hair event, did
you get a swag bag or what Nita?
POW!
I salute Wariesi (who is so sweet) on the success of your
night and many more of your future endeavors!
That dress though? Was certainly a turn up, kudos.
Sincerely,
Lovely Nita XoXo
