Head Quarters Original Shampoo & Conditioner Review: HQO Love

If you are a male (or female!) or of know of any who likes to get a fresh cut living in Connecticut, I am CERTAIN that you have heard of Head Quarters Barbershop In Cuts We Trust! Head Quarters In Cuts We Trust is doing big things with their barbershop as well as great barbering institute.

Now you may be wondering, well yeah of course I do but.. do you have interest in becoming a barber? Mmmmaybe! Think I can pull off a Eve attitude & get a Michael Ealy dupe?... What? Take a number?! Fine.

Did you cut your hair?!... No, not today.

Just in case you haven’t heard, Head Quarters has branched out in several areas including their latest HQElemints line (which is for treating the hair and scalp) and HQO (Love the name) = Head Quarters Original line which I had the pleasure of reviewing. HQO products are used and sold to treat and promote healthy hair and scalp as mentioned for ALL hair types. This is a unisex line and I know and can approve of in regards to the HQO Shampoo & Conditioner.

It’s the little things that count right? I remember a nice gentleman holding the door for me as I entered LNS’s Sip-N-Shop Event back in March and as a lady, I certainly respect that. So while browsing different vendors, I happened to see this nice guy again who complimented my hair and asked which products I use on my natural hair. This nice guy happened to be the Founder of InCutsWeTrust, Head Quarters Original line and HQElemints line Mr. T. Deon Cohen.

Small talk, questions asked and answered which is when he put me onto his sister who I can clearly relate to with her being a naturalista as well (I see what you did there... smooth!) lol From there, convo flourished and the next thing you know, I was asked to check out some of the HQO line. Here we have it.

The HQO line has a variety of styling products including the shampoo, conditioner, styling gel, styling cream, body wash and even a moisturizing hand lotion! See when I tell you that they are doing their thing right now!

HQ products are paraben and sodium chloride free products and the styling products are also alcohol free, which is alright with me!

HQO Shampoo: Restores and balances deficiencies.
HQO Conditioner: Softens and shines with wheat protein, jojoba oil, and keratin.

All of the above mentioned products plus apparel including shirts with sayings like “Friends Don’t Let Friends Get A Bad Hair Cut” and Barber 4 Life wrist bands are for sale on the website. (Paypal accepted which is a must!). So definitely check it out or go straight to the source and tell Deon that I sent you! lol

Urban Roots:Spring Into Summer Launch.. Yup!

Friday May 10, 2013
In between 6 pm and 11 pm.. Where might have you been? Funchal Café possibly? For the Urban Roots: Spring into Summer Launch possibly? If not, SHAME ON YA!!

No really, Shame on me!  I pass this place at least once a week and this was my first time actually stopping by. I showed up to the launch slightly later than I intended but was able to stick around for about 2 hours and must say that I enjoyed myself within that time frame!

It was one of the nicer Spring days that we have had this year. In fact Spring into Summer was THE perfect title. One of those warm nights not too cool, not too hot in the low 60’s. You know when can get away with a long sleeved shirt or cardigan? If you didn’t have one, you were certainly in the right place because not only are the designs & colors appealing, but they are comfortable!

Urban Roots presents you with many great designs in many prints, sayings, colors, sizes meeting the taste of all! Great prices as well!

Now you know that behind the event was a great hostess, my Girl Deidra aka Miss Leopard~N~Stilettos who just celebrated 1 year!! Hey Now…

So what did the Launch have to offer? Besides some funky fresh super fly summer gear? (Ha! Who says that? Can we say 2013 & not 1993?). Funchal was there to provide great food from paninis to salads. Great crowd, the DJ set the mood with some of radio’s TOP 40 to those great classics that gave you the spring to summer feel. You know, those songs that you forgot all about & didn’t realize that you know ALL of the lyrics? Yeah those.

The crowd was nice, mixed and very cool. Waiting patiently over convo, great food, music, and of course viewing and purchasing Urban Roots merchandise for their “winning” raffle ticket to be called. The raffle prizes were great, they varied from Urban Roots merchandise, Mets tickets, and a grand prize cruise that everyone wanted as well.

No bueno. She took an L! :-( lol (Sorry Carol!)

Much Love to one of my FAVE photographers Ajani of Ajani Housen Photography! In the building capturing memories and winning all of the prizes.. Along with Deidra now that I think of it!! Something still funny about that.. LOL JK No but seriously, he claimed the big prize which was a cruise in Manhattan and guess who won?!.. Shame lol

Congrats to Urban Roots on your launch. Ever since, you informed me about this a few months ago it’s been marked in my calendar. I enjoyed the designs, colors & fabric quality are surely alright with me as well. (No discrimination on your snapbacks either! Much love all around!)

I wish you much success!

Front: Two of my FAVE colors might I add!

Natural Bajan Female With A Twist of GQ..

6:23 am, I finished with work slightly earlier than usual so I decide to go into the break room and woo sah a little. Possibly sit, get my daily oatmeal fix and indulge in an interesting article from my Redbook or Cosmo subscription or two. You know that I’m at work but I need a second to get away from work moment that we all (non) secretly do? (Mmm hmm..)

Break room sounds quiet, could it be… Empty?! Suhhh weet! And then… She walks into a male co-worker reading from a shy angle a magaz… Is that my Cosmo?! I chuckle to myself. He quickly closes it and says “Good Morning, sorry”. So I respond “Good Morning, no it’s fine. You were just passing time right?” He says “yup”. I reiterate “It’s cool you can read it.. I’m sure  thatI know what page YOU were on”. We both laugh as he  quickly blushes out of the break room.

But little does he know, Honey I do it too!!

I have a GQ Subscription! Yup, I sure do. Yes. If you’re like why? Pay attention, I’m about to learn you something!

  • Statement: Summer is coming are you hogging my fave machine in the gym so you can wear something like this?

Cosmo offers a skinny broad frolicking on the beach or in a Miss America pageant in her bikini knowing that 97.363% of it's readers will NOT look like that–vs- GQ offers a well fit strikingly handsome man chartering a boat in 8734 degree weather in some pretty spiffy swim trunks.. Or were they swimming trunks? I honestly can’t recall.

Conclusion: Anywho, can you visualize the difference in attention span sometimes? Oh and is anyone else not able to look at anything Calvin Klein without thinking of Marty McFly?

Marty McFly.. or Calvin Klein? Hmm? <- Click if You just don't get it. In which you have not lived!

  • Statement: True Life: I Have Some Weight Struggles, but this article may or may not take it seriously… No seriously.

Redbook offers a sad story about how difficult it can be for a woman to lost weight post postpartum entitled something like “I Promise I Already Had the Baby” or the other (Eh. I made it up). But the magazine assures you not to lose hope because we have a few work outs to fix that for you with a work out plan on the next page.

-vs- a hilarious article entitled “Can Everyone Tell I’m Skinny-Fat?” (Real article by Nick Marino by the way). With a work out plan on the same page. *Presses Red Staples Button*

Conclusion: Pretty much the same without the extra details in a paragraph versus a pass me the Puffs Plus, 3 long paged story article. (Kind of like this one!) Man: Short & Sweet. Woman: Water works water works, and then he had the nerve to.. *turn the page*, water works. Sheesh, but you must love us yes?

Statement: The male Ads are more unrealistically real:
Cosmo Ads include those of when Aunt Flo comes to town and to be quite frank, we’ve tried them ALL but I never look or feel like this broad!! Even while hormonally sober.

As told a few weeks ago, one of my fave annual events is The International Car Show, and Redbook isn’t dishing the latest deets on Lincoln’s 2013 MKZ (Donations for the Danita Wants This Car Fund greatly appreciated).

Conclusion: Unrealistic = Me extra smiley and happy during that time of the month no matter how dainty or pretty the packaging is. Super Unrealistic = Me actually obtaining that car BUT the thought does make me look like Orbit auditions have landed and tripped on pause on my face. :-D
  •  Statement: Odor Preferences: Daffodils & Gobstoppers or Sawdust & Musk?..

As a woman, to know that you’re breezing in stride smelling good is a great day booster. So receiving those sometimes great samples in mags (you think I could totally pull this off) & others put you in a pass the coffee beans kind of vibe.

In the same, as a woman, to briskly walk past a rather handsome man and get a great whiff of that deliciously lingering cologne? And don’t let you know the man and hug him leaving a sample on your clothes… Okay, that can be dangerous pending your relationship status. But in comparison to being tempted to rub that cologne insert all over your pillow? (Please don’t do that… and tell).

Conclusion: Do you prefer meeting someone in your dreams smelling amazing or waking up wondering who that was smelling like your future? Both? Cool me too!

CAUTION: Be careful, be sure to wash your hands after handling the samples and to be careful if you know that you have allergies and not knowing those of others. Samples in a magazine really caused this to this poor woman. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

In a sense, I’m a girlie girl when it comes to make up & I despise manicures and pedicures said no woman EVER! So it’s cool to get coupons for $3 off of any Maybelline product or a funky DIY nail trend. Plus it’s nice to receive advise from people who have gone through similar situations as yourself or loved ones.

In the same, I grew up with quite a few brothers so playing G.I. Joe & NBA Live weren't far out of my childhood. (Love milking that) Plus I just like to know what’s going on with my male counterparts as well, tap into their dome and... laugh the next time I am at the gym & watching a male act like he’s not watching and thinking this…

So proceed co-worker of mine. Judgment free here!

2 Year Natural Hairniverssary Blooper...

Sighhhh... Did she forget when she got free?

No comment here...

I REALLY forgot! Like I'm sitting here listening to the neighborhood the chur'n are being chur'n outside & I haven't heard that in a long time. The birds are chirping, everything is calm as the sun sets on my window pane.

I'm thinking "Wow... It's May already"... or maybe April Jr.. Wait a minute.. April... *Looks at calendar*.. Well I'll be!! She done messed around and really forgot all about her 2 year Natural Hairniverssary! Shame...

I do remember the day however, I made the appointment a few days prior & had no nerves whatsoever, I needed it gone! I went to this natural hairstylist & *Tamar voice* "She did that!". Afterwards, it took me a few minutes to gather myself though, I looked in the mirror, looked at the floor, looked in the 2nd mirror, breathed & rejoiced!! I was working in retail at the time and was sooo excited to go to work of all places to show my new do off. I've been in love ever since. I think I like this look though, might give it another try!

I must do something in pardon of my lateness, like trims my ends or something. No really I'm thinking I'm going to celebrate somehow this weekend. I'm off and the weather is supposed to be gawgeous! How do you celebrate your Natural Hairniverssary?

My 1st Mini Clothing/Accessory Haul... Very small.. Ehh

Heyyy...

How's it going Loves? Now I know that you may want to call me a liar... Why? I'm NOT! I have been talking about posting videos for WEEKS now. Please forgive me! If you only knew the poor quality that I was undergoing with uploading on the Tube of You. In addition to trying this software, that one waiting several hours just for a big WHOMP WHOMP! So I decided to give Vimeo a try & we'll see how this goes. It doesn't mean that I'm necessarily giving up or bashing Youtube but I'm just going to see how this goes for now.

That's neither here nor there, Here's to my first clothing & accessory haul.. More videos to come for sure. Some already recorded! Thanks so much for watching, leave some feedback & Stay blessed!
